Romantic Christmas Vibes in Prague

#1 Christmas Markets

Logically to assume, if you want to feel Christmas vibes with your partner, markets may give you true inspiration. Luckily, there are lots of markets appearing in December in this beautiful city. Yet, we do recommend you to try the ones in Old Town Square. There you will find delicacies, some hot beverages, and simple Xmas thematic accessories which can cheer you both up. Grab some comfortable shoes, because you will be definitely tired of roaming around, there are so many to try and buy.

#2 Walk Down the Vltava River at Night

If you crave something night and romantic, you can organize a walk near the Vltava River. Moreover, this is a top option because of Christmas lights, and just the city’s radiance. Start from the Prague Dancing House down to the Charles Bridge, take pictures, and feel the atmosphere of childhood when you should not care much about routine. If hungry, there are lots of restaurants or cafes to grab a bite of local treats.

#3 Eat Tasty

As was said above, you should not miss the opportunity to visit the local markets. Yet, apart from markets, you should visit the cafes where you can try out the beechwood-smoked klobása sausage from a timber stand. If you want something high-end, go for traditional minced párek sausage or utopenec (a sausage with onion, and red pepper). And, of course, we could not leave this tip without their tasty trdelníks. It is a sweet treat made from walnuts. A recommendation regarding the spot falls for MLS Bistro’s Creperie U Katejana.

#4 Try Ice Skating

Another option to enjoy the city’s radiance and Xmas lights is to visit their ice skating rinks. Even though they are yearly occupied by tourists, there are lots of rinks to visit for fewer people. For instance, you can choose Ovocny Trh, which is fully free of charge (excluding the rental of ice stakes), and it daily works until 10 pm. You can find it in the Prague City Hall. The locals also recommend such an experience when the Vltava river freezes, and you can ice stake directly there. Yet, one huge con — it rarely freezes, so if you manage to catch the moment, do not miss it.

#5 Go for Hotel Views

If you only think about booking the hotel, we highly recommend taking a look at Hotel Josef only because of the views. It is located a few blocks from the main square where quietness is guaranteed. This hotel is about modern architecture with different colour schemes. Regarding the amenities, you can enjoy a complimentary mini-bar and the most delicious breakfasts which are highly reviewed by visitors. For those who ate a lot at the local markets, there are also a gym and sauna.

#6 Watch Ballet Or Other Performances

Couples who love intellectual time spending may also opt for watching opera, orchestras, choirs, and dance performances. Looking ahead, we want to insist that such events should be booked for tickets in advance. You may overlook the list of December events in the National Theatre of Prague, the Estates Theatre, as well as Karlin Theatre. You will surely catch Swan Lake, Nutcracker Ballet.

#7 Try River Cruise

Even in December, you with your partner can try out relaxing on the Prague river cruise to overlook the landscapes and discuss your relationship. The Vltava River can help you discover you two better. The cruises depart hourly. You may order coffees or teas alongside other beverages and enjoy each other.

#7 Listen to Music At The St Salvator Church

Apart from ballet and opera, you can together visit the St Salvator Church to listen to the choir. This place is among the top-rated ones in Prague, so you will also enjoy the old architecture. Note, during the weekends, you can catch Advent Choral Meeting and check how dedicated musicians gather to perform. Such an option is free of charge and open to the public.

#8 Go For Shopping

You may agree that shopping for ladies is a true experience where they can become happy in seconds. If you are also into such deals, you can visit the shopping spots and buy something for you two. It does not only concern the clothes, shoes and accessories, however, authentic local goods such as Marionettes, Becherovka Herbal Liqueur, or Bohemian Glass.

#9 Visit Petrin Tower

No worries if you miss Paris and its Eiffel Tower. Prague can surprise you with the Petrin Lookout Tower that somehow resembles it. You can climb up to the observation spot, and check the stunning view of the city. Those who hesitate about climbing, you guys can take the funicular or elevator. Prepare a camera, and take romantic pictures.

#10 Take a Royal Route

When it comes to walking adventures, locals highly recommend taking a walking tour called Royal Route. The name refers to the route of coronation processions. Therefore, you can experience yourself as a king and queen. The walk will involve such spots as Powder Tower, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and Prague Castle. You can organize it alone, or use a guide who will also speak of the top destinations to make your Christmas staycations special and romantic.

As you may see, you won’t be bored in Prague together. However, do ensure you book a hotel, and tickets to performances if you want to visit them during the Christmas days out there. It especially concerns Opera and Ballet that will be booked one month in advance.
